This was for the fourth time Lund University organized Climathon in Lund. Last year, 2020 the event was canceled las minute due to the pandemic and the University regulations that was decided just before the event. 2021 however was a big-time comeback! There were more participants than ever and the overall energy level was higher. This was also because the concept had been changed. Previous Climathon was run as a 24 hour event, now the hackathon was spread out over five days. The total number of hours was not increased much but the number of active working hours was indeed.
The theme for this year was sustainable, attractive and shared passenger transports. The participants were working hard solving four different challenges from partners.
Lunds Kommun´s challenge; How can the municipality work to increase the proportion of sustainable travels in Brunnshög, the residents’ travels and travels to and from work?
Malmö Stad and P-Malmö´s Challenge; How can mobility zones be best implemented in Malmö?
Nobina´s challenge; How can we achieve safe, comfortable and time-efficient travel from door to door with public transport?
Skånetrafiken, Region Västra Götaland and Region Stockholm´s challenge; How can we make it possible for people to reach the places they want to go to in their free time without the use of private cars?

In total eight teams presented solutions to the jury and challenge owners at the final event of Climathon. The overall winner of Climathon in Lund were the team WeCollect, the solution was an app that include individual, community and global rewards for using sustainable modes of transport.
