Climate-KIC Start-ups from Lund University
To date there have been 10 startups from Lund University accepted in the Climate-KIC Start-up Accelerator. Eight of those are still in business. Here are short descriptions of five of these companies with links to their webpages.
Smart carpooling solution.
The electric road concept “Elonroad” offers a charging infrastructure for all electric vehicles. The electric charging system is both an automatic park-charger without cables and an electric road solution for charging vehicles while driving. It works in cities, highways, parking, taxi lines.
Vultus offers a satellite system for precision farming. The technology enables farmers around the world to grow healthier plants at a lower cost and significantly reduces environmental harm.
Repamera uses its social media influence to encourage people to repair their clothing, rather than buy new clothing and founded the Swedish “White Monday” campaign as an antidote to overconsumption.
Hexagem is yet another spinoff company from NanoLund (formerly known as Nanometer Structure Consortium). Previous companies from this environment include Qnano, Solvoltaics and Glo. Hexagem is in the business of producing GaN wafers with zero threading dislocations. Having devices without threading dislocations means better voltage tolerance, improved device properties, and better device reliability. This in turn also means more energy efficient devices. The company has been awarded support for the first stage of the Climate-KIC accelerator.
Enjay is the company that address the problem of heat wasted in the outgoing air of restaurant kitchen ventilation. It might seem like a small problem and a limited market but it turns out there is a huge potential. The innovative solution is enabled through an integrated design of filter and heat pump. The machine is flushed with hot water on a regulary basis to get rid of ecsess grease. Enjay has been awarded support for the first and second stage of the Climate-KIC accelerator.
Greinon develops communication devices for LED lighting and smart city systems, including hardware and software. The smart system enables city elements, such as street lights, bus stops, traffic lights and so on to communicate with each other and exchange information. This, in turn, allows city managers to track activities in real-time, adjust various parameters, collect statistical information, and much more. Energy savings is upp to 85% in streetlights. Grenion has been awarded support for the first and second stage of the Climate-KIC accelerator.
