We face a number of significant climate challenges and need to work together, across traditional boundaries, to find new innovative solutions. Lund Climathon will focus on solar energy development. The goal is for Lund to take the lead in solar production in Sweden within the coming five years.In order to reach the goal, new ideas are needed in a number of areas:

• Technology solutions that provide more efficient installations, new types of solar cells, etc.
• Planning tools that lead to more solar installations
• Designs for attractive installations that contribute positively to the cityscape, building architecture, etc.
• Business models and new forms of cooperation that develop shared ownership of solar power plants
• Other - for example, methods for increased knowledge and willingness to invest in solar energy

We are looking for participants with different backgrounds and experiences. The important thing is that you have a burning interest, want to think new and collaborate with others over 24 hours to come up with an idea that is then pitched before a jury. Maybe you are a student, entrepreneur, technical expert or just a citizen with a large interest in solar energy?

What happens to the ideas?

The final session of Climathon is a pitching event where the different groups present their proposals for a jury that will give feedback on the ideas and select a winning proposal. The goal is that several of the ideas will become reality. This could be happening within the activities of the participating organizations or n other forms. Lund municipality is currently working on developing a new energy plan that will guide the work of the coming years. We hope that several of the proposals will become integrated in this plan.
